Often, we are confronted with circumstances in life we cannot find the courage to bear. We are brokenhearted, weary, and beaten down. In the angst and anxiety of life’s valleys, we are tempted to turn our gaze downhill, afraid to stumble as we descend into the depths, our vision focused on the depression below. We become so consumed in negativity, so disheartened by the difficult climb ahead, we forget that though we may no longer see the horizon, the sun still shines overhead and though the valley may be swallowed in the shadow of our mountain, the stars still gently light the way. We forget…and we are lost. Life can deliver some unforgiving truths, it can beat you to your knees, and drown out your tears but you must remember, no matter how impossible the road ahead may seem, no matter how black the night, dawn is always near. We can choose to wallow in self-pity, to let the world break us down, and trench our valleys into canyons, but even the canyon floor is soon touched by the sun’s light. There is hope; there is always hope and you must never let go of that.
“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”
- C. S. Lewis
